Role: Freelance Design

Client: Sarah Cargill, Templ

Project: Branding, Logo, Illustrations, Re-brand

Sarah is a mission-based entrepreneur, marketing expert, and holistic muse. She founded the luxury lifestyle brand Templ with the mission of inspiring her audiences to create a house filled with spirit. Templ creates and curates mindful, high-vibrational products and practices that inspire a life lived ceremoniously and in harmony with the world around us.

Sarah had worked with another designer to establish her preliminary logo and brand identity, but approached me when some challenges facilitated the need for a brand refresh. The brand foundations spoke to Sarah’s vision of connecting with the sacred by invoking creativity, ceremony, and tranquility. However, the original mark was both difficult to print on product packaging as a result of it’s fine line detailing, and closely resembled multiple peer and competitor brands within the home and body lifestyle space. Templ’s mission and vision had evolved as the brand grew, and was in need of an overall refresh across logo, palette, and illustrative styling to add character and refine the brand direction across her website, social media, and marketing strategies.

Together we dreamed up a sigil-inspired sacred mark, an earth-toned palette, and dualistic illustrative style to distinguish unique sub-identities between her home and body product lines.

Brand Discovery Direction

Color Palette: A color palette that reflects our commitment to sustainability, nature, and ancient practices. Consider using earthy tones like greens, browns, or beiges, or calming colors such as soft blues or muted yellows. The colors should evoke a sense of tranquility and connection with the environment.

Imagery: Incorporate symbolic imagery that represents our brand's focus on ancient practices, wellbeing, and ecoconscious living. Possible options include symbols related to nature, geometric patterns inspired by ancient cultures, or abstract representations of home and wellness elements.

Typography: Select a font that is clean, modern, and easily readable while still conveying a sense of warmth and craftsmanship. Avoid overly ornate or decorative fonts, as they might detract from the simplicity and elegance of the design.

Simplicity: Aim for a minimalist design that is easily recognizable and scalable across various formats and sizes. The logo should be versatile enough to be used on our website, packaging, promotional materials, and social media channels.

Timelessness: Design a logo that is not tied to current design trends but rather has a timeless appeal that will remain relevant and impactful over time.

Balance: Ensure that the logo design elements – color, imagery, and typography – are harmoniously balanced and complement each other to create a cohesive visual representation of our brand.

Brand Exploration Tiles

I created multiple conceptual directions that explored the juxtaposition of geometric lines with flowing organic shapes, representing the contrast between temple and home architecture with the divine design of fluid, organic life. We also explored marks that represented the raised vibrations of a house full of spirit, as well as reflective mirror marks representing the spiritual mantra “as above, so below.”

I provided robust style tiles of each concept, helping bring to life how the branding would embody Sarah’s vision across every medium, whether print, product, or digital.
